Top 11 Best Natural Beauty Products

Top 11 Best Natural Beauty Products

Everyone likes lists – so here’s a list of my fave natural beauty products! Natural and organic beauty products are a hot ticket item these days - how great is it to not only look beautiful, but also act in an environmentally friendly way!  Just bear in mind that not all natural products are created equal and natural does not necessarily = organic.  Here’s a quick overview of what the terms actually mean:

Natural implies that one, some or all of the ingredients used are unprocessed and, well you know, natural. And while these ingredients, such as fruits, sugars, vitamins and minerals, are natural and proven effective, it doesn’t mean they were grown or gathered organically, it only means that the ingredients come from nature, but could be mixed in with synthetics.

On the other hand, Organic means that the ingredients have been produced without the use of antibiotics, synthetic hormones, genetic engineering, sewage sludge, or irradiation. On top of this the ingredients have been minimally processed without artificial ingredients or preservatives.

If you can, organic is a great way to go but I’ll tell you why I don’t generally buy organic products and that’s the short shelf life!  I am such a beauty junkie that I’m not capable of buying just one product and using it until it’s gone as you should with organic products - because they don’t contain preservatives, they will go bad – and they go bad long before I have time to revisit them!

With that being said, here are my top 11 (yes 11, not 10) favourite natural beauty products!

LUSH Tiny Hands Solid Serum - 60g - $5.95 - a softening, smoothing hand cream in a bar with argan oil, aloe vera, cocoa and shea butters to coat and soften hands that have become dry or cracked. With a vanilla and marigold scent that is quite lovely! www.lush.com

Klorane Shine Enhancing Spray with Magnolia Wax - 100ml - $12.75 - comprised of 95% natural ingredients it adds immediate, dazzling shine to the hair - silicone free with a dry texture which makes it suitable for all hair types. Can be used on damp hair to detangle or on dry hair to add intense shine. www.klorane.com

Vapour Organic Atmosphere Luminous Foundation - $38 – in 5 shades with coverage that is meant to be light to medium and buildable. It has a luminous quality to it so if you have oily skin you might not like the finished look as it does look somewhat glowy.  The best thing about it is how little this feels like foundation – it’s literally like having nothing on your face! www.vapourbeauty.com

Pür Minerals Impact + Mascara - $20 - nourishing mascara that lengthens, thickens and curls with endless build and enviable intensity which hydrates for naturally healthy looking lashes. The wand has a new design to curl with better control and to get more definition using less mascara. www.purminerals.com

Biotherm Skin Ergetic Energy Up Complex Signs of Fatigue Repairing Concentrate - 50ml - $58 - contains ingredients that are 99% of natural origin including: broccoli, soy apple, lemon and sugar cane - the most interesting part of this product is the fresh cosmetics technology that makes it possible to optimize the effectiveness of the active ingredients via last-minute activation - the broccoli extract in this product is one of the best ingredients for fighting skin fatigue but is unstable when added to a skincare formula.  To solve the problem, Biotherm decided to isolate this ingredient in a capsule so that it could be activated at the last minute, immediately before the first application.  You release the powder into the rest of the concentrate and it will retain optimum stability for three months - so don't forget to use it every day! www.biotherm.com

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm - $7.99 - available in 6 shades - with a light pear flavour they contain 100% natural ingredients including botanical flower waxes from Ylang-Ylang and Jasmine as well as Shea Butter, Vitamin E and Beeswax. www.burtsbees.com

Josie Maran Argan Color Stick - $29 - in 2 shades of pink it can be used on lips or cheeks (or more creative places I suppose if that's your thing) gives a lovely, dewy flush and I love how portable it is! www.josiemarancosmetics.com

Phyto Paris Phytojoba Intense Hydrating Mask - 200ml - $42 - specifically designed to intensely hydrate and protect dry hair.  Contains jojoba oil for softness and well as its regenerative, emollient and protective properties; angelica seed and root extract for tonifying and purifying; and South African sweet orange essential oil to provide shine and vitality (and also makes it smell amazing)!  There is a natural gum derivative in the formula to help instantly detangle hair without weighing it down. www.phyto.com

Green Beaver Certified Organic SPF 30 Sunscreen
- 90ml - $19.99 - a certified organic, 100% natural sunscreen that uses mineral zinc oxide - which sits on top of the skin creating a natural physical barrier blocking both UVA and UVB rays for broad spectrum protection, instead of chemicals. It's also free of petrolatum, synthetic fragrances, dyes, phtalates or any other chemical ingredients. Best thing about it – no yucky sunscreen smell! www.greenbeaver.com

Sudz by Kiss My Face C-Weed Shower Gel - 237ml - $8.15 - sweet orange & lemon with organic aloe & chamomile - great smell, great lather, just all around great - I would live in a vat of this if such a thing existed... www.kissmyface.com

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel
– 50ml - $50 - works for all skin types and is great for aging and unbalanced skin as well as hormonal breakouts. A refining alpha hydroxy acid complex that is made from certified organic apple, lemon, grape juices, and raw cane sugar, which exfoliates and brightens for visibly improved skin tone and texture. www.juicebeauty.com

This is by no means a complete list of all the natural products I like and it was so hard narrowing it down to 10 (well, 11)!  In your opinion, what’s missing off my list?
