Recycled Paper Greetings by Jonesy

Recycled Paper Greetings by Jonesy

Today we found out about these recycled paper greeting cards printed on soy based ink by Jonesy. The founder, Nina Jones loved so much designing her own wedding cards that she decided to start her business, and they are just beautiful, simple, adorable and you can even reuse these cards by transforming them into postcards. All at a very affordable price, believe it or not. Use them twice for half the price.

Tell us a little bit about the background/story of Jonesy cards.

My background of Anthropology and Fine Art was the perfect start for my pursuit of finding what I wanted to do with my creativity and curiosities. Once I finished further education in Graphic Design, it became apparent that i found my niche when I designed my wedding invitations. From then, i couldn't get enough.
I wanted to design a card for everything. Every birthday card was designed, every thank you, every hello. I loved it. THAT was what i wanted to do… stationery. It was a way to use my creativity and communicate with others, I've always loved paper and sending letters.

What did you want to be when you were a kid?
I wanted to work with animals! But soon discovered I had a love of doodling instead of a love for numbers and science.

What makes your cards different than standard cards out there?

Jonesy cards are different, in that they strive to make a connection by triggering a memory, or connection to another person. I am interested in portraying the objects around us and how they make us feel and feel towards others.

What's the biggest lesson you learned while starting your company?
I learned to believe in myself, and that taking risks is what life is all about. The book The Alchemist was one of the most influential books i have ever read and its timing (when starting my own business) was perfect. I also learned that my husband has great patience!!

What's your favorite card?
My favourite card is Ornasanta. I love the simplicity of it... but that simplicity lends itself to other things visually, and physically; as in its shape.

Your cards are very affordable and you can even reuse them, any ideas why they're not yet so common at grocery stores?
It has been a slow upward climb for Jonesy. Since I focus on custom and work with corporate clients, deadlines can come in the way of me overseeing the wholesale side. Sales is not my forte, but things are starting to fall in place- finding the right people for sales/ distribution of Jonesy.

Describe a typical day in your life.
A typical day in my life is waking up to the sound of my children, rushing to get everyone ready and out of the house. My studio is in the Historic Distillery District, so usually every morning as I get close to work, I absorb my surroundings and realize how happy I am to be working here.
After that, there isn't anything "typical" each day I interact with different clients on custom work varying from a baby announcement to a 32 page corporate brochure, while receiving wholesale orders in-between which need picking and packing up.

What are your top 3 best sellers?
Top three best sellers: duckies, bike and ewe.

If there is one thing/thought/idea that you could pass on to the next generation, what would it be?
